You can use rubs/marinades on just about anything. Some go better with certain types of meat/veggies but it doesn't have to be steak flowerforyou

Topic: Stupidity and Religion Tue 11/04/08 10:10 AM
Well, I was born and raised a Catholic. But, at a very young age, I started questioning certain things. I always had questions, ones that were never really answered in a way I was comfortable with. So, I first left the church then discarded Christianity altogether. It was not an easy decision I made, came through a lot of questioning both what I was taught and what felt right within my own soul.

My son has never been raised in any religion, a very conscious choice of mine. His father is Catholic, his best friend is Muslim, his aunt is Jewish and if I have to label myself, it would have to be buddhist, though I'm not entirely comfortable with that designation. He is taught about religion from an intellectual standpoint. I figure someday, something might resonate within his soul and he may choose to be something. Or, he may not. Either way I believe it is something he needs to decide for himself.

Yes, I do realize VA is a southern state. But no, compared to other southern places, Northern VA just isn't quite there.

I guess it's a matter of opinion as well. But the south, like anything, is comprised of many, many different aspects. To generalize that it's all rural, small town, unsophisticated, blah, blah blah is simply stereotyping. No doubt, Atlanta is considered a southern city but it bears hardly any resemblance whatsoever to to the narrow-minded view most people have of what the south is.

yeah a bunch of rich snobby people who think their shyte dont stink,, but i got news fer em,,, it does. but there are nice rural areas around here. winchester is part of nva and its got more farming around and in it than most other places, manassas,,, places like that still have the southern charm to it.

So now, it's rich snobby people in northern VA? Alrighty. Anyway, I consider Northern VA completely different than the rest of VA. I've never considered myself as living in the south.

Northern VA is different than the rest of VA, at least parts of it. Technically speaking, though, it is in a southern state so therefore, it's the south though it may not resemble your idea of what the south is. flowerforyou

As for you, Mr. Smartass, I didn't mean that I couldn't get more southern because I live here now and lived in Charleston, I meant that you can't get much more southern than Charleston. It is definitely a typical southern town. tongue2 tongue2 tongue2

I think a lot of it depends on tone of voice. I'm offended by it when it's clear that the person (no offense intended but it's usually men) are talking down to you. Other than that, I never thought about it one way or another. And since I've moved to the south, it's much more prevalent and I hardly notice it anymore. And, I find myself doing it much more than I used to.

Reston is the south?? tongue

Hmmm, point taken laugh But it IS far more southern than Detroit where I grew up. And I did live in Charleston SC for a few years. Can't really get much more southern than that bigsmile

I would think a five-finger lobotomy would make someone awfully stupid. And considering what he started with, it could be pretty sad laugh laugh

I got there at 5:45, they opened at 6. About 200 people already in line but it went pretty quickly. Funny, though, when they opened the doors, the crowd cheered laugh I was back in my car by 6:55 so it wasn't too bad.

I both buy them and make my own, depending on what I feel like doing. And what I put in depends on what I happen to have as far as spices, vinegars, etc. Also depends on what I'm in the mood for, sweet, spicy, salty, etc.
