I work in a hospital so I am luckier than most, pay about $17 every 2 weeks out of my check for my share of my medical insurance. If I go to a clinic the hospital owns, I don't have a copay, and we do have really good doctors, we are a small town and we are lucky. If I go to a specialist that is covered by our insurance, I pay $20 copay, but outside the network, can get nailed for almost 50% of the visit. My surgery in April was almost $25,000 and they paid all but about $1,000 and the hospital and surgeon were excellent, so I can't complain about my healthcare. As long as I work where I do, if I leave there, it will be a whole different story I am sure.

True, Gypsy. Healthcare is suffering among other programs. The elderly and children are hurting.

Many of us are what they call the "sandwich generation" - we are taking care of our parents and also raising or helping raise our kids or grandkids. Some of this is because of the cost of medical, but the rest of it is just plain the cost of everyday life. Really scary how many people are now "raising" their parents - and it is hard. I am in the middle of it right now.

Gotta agree with you Wiley, Bush really took us to the cleaners. Don't know that either of our current options are better. Our local governors race isn't any better either.

It is amazing the truck loads of money that goes into protecting our ex presidents and their families for forever.

I don't know who will win, but I don't like either one. Sorry, but true.

Terry has been listening to CB chatter of the truckers and there are all kinds of threats out there if a certain one gets in office. Really scary stuff. Pretty sad state of affairs, but our government has sucked for a good 8 years now anyways.

Still on hold waiting for news about dad. They haven't scheduled his ultrasound as of today. He is too weak to stand now, really depressed, and barely eating. He even skipped breakfast out this weekend, that was a first in years. He said he had a bruised rib (from them using the lift to move him from his chair) but the nurse said it wasn't his rib but his liver causing him pain. So, who knows.

Dr. Drew is back with a new group, except for one recycle - Jeff Conaway is back to try again, still being obnoxious and raising cain. And, this time his girlfriend, Vicky, has checked in to the unit next door to dry out and she is raising her own havoc.

They have Gary Busey on it this time too, and he is acting like he is running the show, not needing help but there to control things, almost like Baldwin did last time.

Another American Idol finalist too. An ex-Guns and Roses drummer. Not sure who the others are, I don't recognize them.

Should be interesting this time around.

I always wanted to get a college degree but became a single parent and worked to raise her, so that got put way on the very back burner. I have managed a few college courses over the years, but will never accomplish a degree like I had wanted.

I am slowly working on other issues in my life that I have wanted to fix/correct, but they seem to be moving very slowly.

Seem to be caught in survival mode like so many people, keeping a roof over my head, etc.

True story: When I worked for the prison system, one manager was driving drunk and got pulled over by the state patrol. He was yelling that they couldn't take him to jail, he worked for the prison. Too bad, they did anyways. Also too bad that they found a crack pipe in his car, ooopsie.

Karen - glad things are moving forward and looks like they are working out in your favor. Is a really hard process but you are making it. Hang in there, it is worth it in the long run. flowerforyou

Dad's blood tests showed his liver enzymes are elevated - could be caused by a bunch of things, but pancreas and liver cancer are two of the possible causes. His sister and mother died of pancreas cancer, another sister of ductal cancer, brother of colon cancer, etc. He is barely eating and is really depressed, so who knows. They are setting up tests for next week, his doctor dropped in to see him today, will do an ultrasound of his abdomen, liver, etc., next week. On hold until then.

His behavior has been changing for the last 6 or more weeks, has been more and more depressed, eating less and less too. I don't really think it is an infection, would think it would have shown up by now, some type of pain, etc. But he is very weak and I just get the feeling he is giving up, but will have to wait and see what the labs say.
