Mikey you will certainly be in my prayers. I'm so sorry for your loss. You have always been there for me -- with a hug, a laugh and kind supporting words. If there is anything I can do for you at this time, please let me know. We love you Mikey.heart heart heart

Well hopefully all of us pulling together in the same direction will help us get to our goals. I think we have a lot to offer each other. I have found if I listen to people long enough I can find something I like about them. I get interested in their lives and hope for them. Lot of people think your cyber friends are not that important but if you invest in the process with kindness and being yourself you can discover a lot about yourself and that people are like Tundra says very much alike. (((HUGS Roomies)))

You are sooooo right. It's discussions like this that makes me wish we were all in the same room.

sometimes you just have to weather the storm no matter how many people have been in the same situation it always feels different in real time. i recently separated 5 weeks ago and we decided to call it quits, and everyone says it will get better. well its not tv and i cant just hit the fast forward to happy times button. somehow someway i am going to find my release of the pressure and stress til then i just have to be that boxer in the 10th round fighting to stay on my feet

I know that feeling; I've had to ride alot of hard times out and it's not easy. I know it's easy to say -- but in time things will change for you too. My dad used to say "sometimes you eat the bear; and other times the bear eats you". The hard part is getting through your loss (no matter what that loss is) and moving ahead. I'm sorry you are hurting right now.

thanks twitch i just want to get back to the old me who didnt snap easy, who when smiled actually felt good doing it, had good fun and went to bed with a light head instead of a heavy heart

You will get there honey. In the rooms of AA we have a little saying -- Give Time, Time. Take it a day at a time. You will find you are alot stronger than you think.

I think Twitch is on the right track. It is a balanced approach that gets people through most stuff.

Thanks Pacific heart
My approach to life isn't the answer for everyone. I learned mine through the rooms of sobriety (by taking it one day at a time). Not all days are good right now. Losing my job really kicked my ass and some days I cry. Deep inside me there is a fire along with hope and I try really hard to see the positive in each day -- if I didn't have that I'd be drunk right now. Something I can't afford to do.

isnt it funny how we are in so many different places and we are so many different faces but yet we all tend to have some of the same issues and thoughts and problems running thru our heads? i sometimes wonder... man noone is going thru what i am then.... bam! here is a whole slew of people young old and in between that are going thru similar things

That's the truth -- it really helps to talk to other people; so many people are hurting right now.

No, that's right. The one you have to depend on to make yourself happy is you! CHEER UP! That's what I tell everyone. You control your own happiness!!! You can hold onto everything bad that hurts you inside or you can let it go and stick it in that one place you'll forget about it and never look back. It's like 'Happy Gilmore'; you havta go to your HAPPY PLACE! You control your day and the feelings you have throughout it!!! So, CHEER UP!thumbsup

Finding a happy place is a lot easier for people who have known a happy place. Not everyone has had that luxery. Sometimes when you have just climbed out of the tar and feathers that some people like to put on others sometimes your skin is still a little raw. Words of encouragement, not blameing the victim, and helping them reframe thoughts is probably more productive.
That wasn't wisdom enough? No seriously, if they havn't ever had that luxury, they should know it's out there! Happiness is in ourselves and what we make it; along with Christ. Joy can come from the slightest memory of happiness, one smile, one laugh, one piece of candy! Once that is found, never let anyone steal that joy!!!

Totally agree; if I didn't have the "inner peace and happiness" I have inside myself I would never be able to fight the sad times I'm going through right now. Ever since I turned my life around through sobriety I've found the inner strength and peace I need each day to not give up or give into what's going on around me. I still have HOPE in the the power of prayer. Laughter each day and the friends I have make this possible.

How long into sobriety did it take to find it?

I've been sober 16 yrs; early in sobriety (first month or so) when I started taking suggestions, dealing with a sponsor, started the steps and stopped doing things my way that's when the inner peace and happiness started.
I still have moments of doubt especially since I lost my job. Sometimes I'm alittle depressed -- but when you "move a muscle and change a thought", the power of prayer, and meetings things happen to show me I'm not alone. With all the stress in my life right now I have not thought of taking a drink or doing something stupid.

I've had two spiritual experiences -- it got my sttention, helped to get me sober 16 yrs ago, and changed my life around. At the time they were scary; but today I hold them dear; greatest feeling I've ever had.

I'm glad she's alright.
The last e-mail I sent her was on her birthday. Really miss her. Tom when you talk to her again send my love and tell her I miss her.

I rent (landlord doesn't know I'm out of work). I have really great lovingly friends -- no one lets me go hungry. Gonna have to break out my IRA to stay alive. I just keep prayin that something breaks soon and then I cry because I'm so scared. My main worries are rent and heat this winter.
