Topic: Advice for the Newbies - part 2 Tue 10/28/08 04:15 PM
Welcome all the new folks. This can be a fun site and you can get a lot out of the experience that is positive. Try to be upbeat and use your brain about the decisions you make as well as your heart and you should do fine. Security suggestions apply equally to men as women so everyone has a safe and good experience. Trust your instincts and don't feel like you have to do anything you are not comfortable to do to find a great date. Listening and talking in the forums is a very good way to learn about people and yourself. And how you are percieved. The nicer people tend to take a little more time to get to know you so don't be discouraged. People who post often and change their photo's frequently have a lot better luck.

I don't know for a fact it makes a difference but I can sure tell a difference when I drink tap water versus filtered water how stressed my plumbing gets. Same story for the decafinated pop versus the regular stuff. Some of the toxic dumping I have seen makes me not want to swim in a lot of places much less drink it. I figure if government is laying off police and firefighters you know they are fudgeing on the people we don't see everyday.

Welcome aboard kiddo. I am beginning to believe there is a man drain to the south of California because not a lot available to the north end. At my age it is a lot of that FWB baloney or married playing single. Some nice people here. Good Luck.

I have posted in my profile a pic of me holding a 7-11 coffee cup with one of the candidates name on it. I did it for a friend who is an Obama supporter.
It is not intended to be a political statement.
I did it to make her laugh and smile.
I sold my political soul for the favor of a woman.

LOL I suspect you and a lot of other folks. Never know what really happens in the polling booth.

I like someone who can carry on an intelligent conversation about politics but posting a commercial seems like and abuse of my time to read a profile and would discourage my interest in a big way weather I liked their candidate or not.

I think if you want to add notes on the bottom of a profile like many people do the ribbons or changeing out photo's is ok.

Lot of us post profiles but not all of it is to really get someone interested in dates but update your friends on the site.

Last time I heard free speech was still ok on Profiles so do your own thing and live with the consequences.

Remember you ask for these comments.
Picture has a very serious almost angry or depressed tone. More photos and different lead shot would probably help. Some of your comments about the woman you want have a negative vibe. IMHO If someone can't keep up with your train of thought that is more and absence of intelligent transitions than the fault of a listener. You have to be careful about the interpretations and nuances that comments will take on in print with out the presence of body language. Coming in and dissing people isn't going to win friends or impress anyone. Telling people your "turn ons" sounds kind of creepy to me. You are a smart guy so rewrite and relax and you might meet some of the really nice people on this site.

Just a note. 80% of the volunteer work force are Happy people over 65 and they are not crabby they are busy. Too busy for youngish ageism and gross generalizations.

I went to see my grandpa in the nursing home. It was a nice place and the nurses were very attentive. While I was there he slowly started leaning over to the right and an attendant rushed over and straightend him up. A few minutes later he started leaning way over to the left and an attendant rushed over and straightened him up. I asked him how he likes living in such a nice place and he said "Fine but these young bastards won't let me fart"

I thought for sure you were going to say so he could look down her shirt. They might be old but they aren't out.

Topic: Popular... Tue 10/28/08 10:34 AM
I don't know that I was particularly poplular but I had a lot of kids that were friends and the teachers liked me. I worked at least forty hours besides keeping scholarship grades probably didn't hurt. Or that my art talents made up for the tests I did flunk and most of the sports banners or other club/school elections stuff. Took tons of pictures as yearbook photographer. A preachers brat and my female guardian in city/school politics more than once that I had my hands in school pranks really yanked the "parent" chain but made me part of the inner circle. Bailed a shop teacher out of a jam for taking the fall for my airbrushing a Godiva on one of the kids truck. Pretty significant beating went along with it. Nobody ever "officially" knew that my husband a popular former graduate and I eloped but compliments of spare the rod spoil the child thing that I miscarried we were protected from being expelled and lot of people hung out at our drug and booze free apartment and came to the official wedding which was huge. I help make the coaches wife bridesmaids dresses and did a lot of prom decorations and dresses. That you could cram a ton of kids in my 69 Dodge Charger RT and I would quarter mile at 125 MPH was kind of fun. OMG don't tell the grandkids. hahahahahahahahaha
P.S. My one regret was I campaigned for the right to not be expelled for smoking and I would say the biggest percentage of my classmates that did smoke have all had serious health issues. That is not dogging on smokers because I was one but just saying it really shows when you past fifty.

P.S. Don't just check the kid's candy. Seniors are trying to save pennies and frequently have tainted food in their cabinets. Rather than give more junk like christmas stockings, or stuffed animals, or poisonous plants such as Poinsettias that are a nightmare for Caregivers and pet lovers give the Seniors near you gift cards for the grocery nearest them. Even a couple of dollars is a big help. It might seem like a kindness to give fresh fruit or nuts but most of the time it is just waisted if it is more than one small serving.

It is really irrateing to me that for the 35 years that I have been interested in food testing that our government food safety programs are one of the worst under funded agencies (comparitively speaking to our gross national product)of many nations of the world.

What we are doing to test imported foods should scare the heck out of people.

Because we don't have the laws that prevent the corporate retailers that have lobbyists, insurance, and lawyers to pass the buck back up the line so you don't have a lot of recourse once something is manufactured off shore does kind of fall on the public. Don't kid yourself if you tell your elected officials you are out of a job if this crap keeps coming on our table the laws would change.

The cheapest food is not always your best option. Not insisting on buying American produced foods is why they are so terribly expensive and why many of the food processors here are out of business or very near it.

On the flip side of that the amount of inferior products that we ship to other countries when they won't pass inspection here is shameful.

What infuriates me is every year I do a food drive and people will give food that clearly shows is out of date, spoiled, or otherwise compromised wasteing precious time and resources of charities trying to reduce malnutrition here in the USA.
