Topic: Thousands of UFO's sightings.. tonight on Discovery channel Tue 11/04/08 02:26 PM
the first or oldest ufo sighting was in aurora texas 1897, long before roswel or hitler or flying macines[airplanes] or anything but balloons, this craft was cylindrical in shape according to the witnesses and had an occupant that was "not of this world" and was buried their in the gravyard later in 73 someone stole the brave marker so now know one knows where it is and the rown will not allow anyone to dig up the place so we will never know most likely.

the importence of this case as is stated was before 1903 when the first wright Bros. plane was flown. could it be a hoax? of course, but the evidence and living witnesses that saw it were still alive in 73 to be interviewed, to me it is one of the best cases for ufo,s on record. but that's my opinion.

There are older accounts of ufo's dating back to 850 ad, and of course ealier accounts of things in the sky but not called ufos - why all the reports of this kind would be done and kept over the centuries if not seen? does it "prove" anything? of course not, but to throw it out for lack of proof is only allowing ones self to eliminate the possabilty of what could or may be.

When the Bible says thou shalt not kill do you feel this is absolute?

The Biblical God was telling people to kill other people all the time.

Stone sinners to death.
Stone unruly children to death.
Stone women who aren't virgins and who are unmarried to death.

Murder heathens, and be sure to murder their wives and children to with no mercy.

Don't forget to kill their livestock and burn their cities to the ground too.

The Biblical God sends mixed messages concerning murder. If you take the Bible literally it's hard to know what to do.

What you should say to someone who takes the Bible literally is "I have some great sunny ocean front property for you in South Dakota."

But hey who am I to judge people baseless beliefs.

evidently somebody - because you just did. tongue

this subjects been debated to death, Bushi, we all know pretty much where we stand on "die hard" literal translation of the "book"[s] be it Hebrew, christian, or Muslim takes on it. The "god said it, i believe it, that settles it" populace, so to say. many Christians themselves don't agree with this, to many are aware of the ultra left views of many TV preachers/teachers.

Today in my opinion, you cannot really understand it the way it was intended, it was for a particular people at a particular point in time and they did know what was meant. All of that was accomplished by AD 70 when the temple was destroyed and the Jews scattered across the earth. of course their again that is my opinion. it was not a conspiracy by the piso family, it was not a conspiracy by the writers, it was just not meant for today in the way it was for those whom it was intended for.

SL:

Perhaps the loss of all modern amenities, due to some sort of global cataclysm, will force humans to rely on a more permanent cohesive coexistence.

It's not that I wish to see great suffering. But, don't we see agonizing suffering in our isolation from one another?

OOPS! Would this be considered off topic??? Nah! Secular humanism IS a religion.

So tell me again who the REAL weaklings are...those who cry for their nanny govt. or those who walk not by sight but by faith in God?

The real weaklings are ones who cant stand on there own. Those who cant form there own beliefs. Those who have to look to an outside source for strenth and self worth.

The real weaklings are those who force there beliefs on others by mass. Those who belive in a hyerarchy system where 1 man is supperior and the other are inferrior

In my opinion of course

Uh? Christianity is not for the weak... it takes strength to stand back & wait on God. OTOH, it's a weakling who puts their faith in govt. Just MHO...

Weakness comes by way of being non self suffecient. When you look 2 something else for "strength" or self worth.

One could also look at it like this:

Weakness can come by way of NOT asking for help and suffering as a result, because one refuses to admit that they're fallible.

right doe eyes, i know i try to be as self sufficient as i can - but also know that sufficiency is still dependent on others to what ever degree i might need at any given time.

I know there are cases or circumstances [especially in the past] where man had no choice but to be as self sufficient as possible, of course thats why life spans were much shorter also. you can't be all things you need at all times unto yourself. To me, sufficency or dependency for now is somewhat dependant on others. though i do feel for those who don't know how to grow and raise food and their own animals or sew or or maintain their equipment or other things not that long ago everyone just knew. how many could can their own food if necessary, or perserve their meats, or even cook decently, etc.. with this recession it got me to wonder how young people would cope if things got really bad like in the 20's and 30's??

Sometimes I hope that soon a time will come that we'll all be put in a position to rely on nature and the cooperation of the people around us for survival.

I've heard stories from friends that lived in the San Fernando Valley during the Northridge Quake in '94. Everyone I spoke with said that, having been disconnected from "the grid", people were united and more connected to one another than they'd ever experienced.

i've seen that to during the hurricanes in fla. people do come together, unfortunately when things get back to "normal" it soon goes away - does that mean we can only come together in a meaningful way if we stay in a state of emergency? let's hope not, but it seems to be true.

The problem is not with the hypothetical particle (which is simply a wave) but you can't prove there are any actual locations without the existence of space and time and matter.

So it is not about finding a location that is void of matter or particles. You would have to find a hypothetical location outside of time and space that has no vibrations, or waves or energy of any kind.

If time and space exist inside of the mind (universal mind) then you would have to go outside of that universal mind to find this void of nothing.

Hypothetically, if you could leave your body and do this and if you did find that place or condition of "nothing" it would be a place of no time, no space, no thought and no vibrations. It would be HERE NOW.

All that would be left is YOU, (the observer) and unless you are nothing, then you are "the something" that exists.

You are the one.

You exist.drinker

You exist is the only absolute law.

is that possible? hmm? i guess it is - but - how sufficient are we really? do we not depend on doctors, farmers, etc., to help our sufficiency? how many or any are skilled enough any more to really be self-sufficient? though in times past this held true for the biggest part, i don't see this today except maybe in areas where thee is no choice but do everything you possibly can to survive, and millions don't. even the most avid backwoodsmen rely on others to supply them with necessities, guns, ammo, food stuffs, etc..

interesting discussion.
