How about something a little less biased - here's the Reader's Digest compiled view of the election from a global view:

http://www.rd.com/your-america-inspiring-people-and-stories/presidential-election-08-global-poll/article102098.html

Click on any country. Our country is the only one where the poll is even close.

And even within the boundaries of the USA - I haven't seen a poll showing McCain in the lead at all, at any point.

Funny thing about your "They're taking a poll on AOL!!!!"...

Once upon a time, around the invention of the telephone, they used this new tool to conduct national surveys to try to predict the president. Result of the telephone survey? Landslide Republican.
Result of the election? Landslide Democratic victory.
How can this be? Only the rich had telephones at that point in time. winking

Very very similarly - who still uses AOL? Largely the extremely conservative, who were willing (for some reason) to pay $25/month for dialup when other services out there were $10/month... now not even AOL charges anymore, but they retain their customer base. You see no bias in that?

Try looking at what the rest of the world sees.

I've found one thing: When I'm standing in a room and find myself in the minority, chances are good that I'm wrong...
...in this case, with such a large chunk of McCain support coming from the prejudiced and ignorant, it paints that picture even more strongly, IMO - because not only isn't he ahead (even in this country), but a good chunk of his support is fundamentally prejudice and ignorance based - which would make him even less ahead, if those votes weren't allowed to count.

Seriously...What gives you the right to call McCain supporters ignorant? Talk about typical and biased...

I support neither, and thankfully so. I will be able to say I didnt vote for either one of them.

I didn't call all McCain supporters ignorant - I'm criticizing the McCain supporters who are ignorant.
In other words (as I was careful to choose wording to isolate, such as "a good chunk of McCain supporters), some but not all.

What I said was, "what if you took the McCain supporters who ARE making their decisions based on virtues of ignorance - racism, internet rumor, beliefs that he is Muslim - apparently that voting for him will lead to war is a new one to me (above) - that the campaign might not be close.

I wouldnt' be surprised if more than 10% of McCain supporters were supporting McCain because they had some emotional fear, like racism or believing Obama is a terrorist because his middle name is Hussein...whoa

But no where did I ever say, or imply, that all McCain supporters were ignorant...

"That he actually has the lead at this point DESPITE all the ignorance out there really is commendable - it almost restores my hope for America!"

What's ignorant is all those people who think he is some kind of "messiah". Just leave off the last 3 letters and you'll see how he'll F*ck up the government. And don't ask me to send my son for military service when this country is surely going to need it. Someone in my family has served since the Revolution but it stops with me. You liveral a$$holes can go to Reverend Wright's church and ask for volunteers. I'm sure you'll find plenty.

Wow, I think that pretty much exemplifies the ignorance I was talking about...
You wouldn't vote for him because three letters off his name would... spell something?
Man, it doesn't stop. whoa

And you might not have noticed laughing but our current government has done more to harm our perception in the world than any in US history.

Click the link for that Readers Digest global poll - you can see the results for other countries. In nearly every case, it's less than 10% support for McCain, and over 80% support for Obama - except in the US, the only place in the world where it's even close.

And much of that, due to ignorant people...
Too many McCain supporters criticisms of Obama sound like skinhead criticisms of those they hate, or Ku Klux Klan members - not facts, just this fear from ignorance...

Realize this:
You get in wars when the world perceives you as an evil empire.
In 8 years, we've gone from being perceived as a pillar of reason, to being militarily aggressive, UN-defying radicals. We have to fix that, and there's actually LOGIC behind that statement.

Click that readers digest poll. Not only would McCain prolong the war that's doing us so much damage in the way the world perceives us, but a vote for McCain further isolates us - from 90% of the world agreeing with a vote for Obama, to less than 10% of them understanding a vote for McCain.

Personally, I DON'T want war - so I don't want to isolate us in the world, nor create the perception (again) that the US population supports wasting our efforts, and in fact depleting our defenses on continuing the radically militant policies that we have under Bush.

Simply put - I don't understand your argument, somehow tying Obama to war?
Sounds like another internet rumor I haven't heard of yet.slaphead

Someone who is constantly reaching for and digging through their carry on bag.

Someone who consciously dominates the armrest.

Someone who talks across you to their buddy across the aisle.

Someone who tries to keep their laptop out when they ask to power them down.

Someone who needs a pillow. Then a blanket. Then help getting their carry on down. Then back up. Then about ordering alcohol. Then can I have a water to take a pill. Then how about some headphones? Then... then... then... the steward[ess] hates you too - guilty by association.

Someone who steals the SkyMall catalog.

It really really really really depends-

It only works on the right person...
And only if they have the right tattoo (and maybe the right reason). In the right place. With the right attitude. And "right" depends on the person.

And there are way way way way too many people who have tattoos that are just some shade of wrong.

Consider my not having one to be a vote in support of COOL tattoos. winking

lol... I know what you mean. I'm kind of envious of that matador guy though - he's about 20 pounds off from being a full blown professional wrestler size guy! But in a good way... and I could never pull off the long hair thing. But I always pictured him sort of the opposite of Mystery... actually legitimately attractive where Mystery has to rely on his tricks - intersting to hear you do think he's attractive!

Oprah can buy someone a seat in the Senate, but it don't look like she'll be able to buy the White House this go around.heart

This is the constant theme with McCain support...
Ignorance! It's beyond propaganda too...

Whether it's "Obama is a Muslim" (not true)
"Obama has terrorist ties" (not true)
"Oprah's is behind Obama" (not true)

Oprah was neutral through most of this campaign, hasn't given financial backing (at least not as far as we know, lol) - and in fact when she discussed on Larry King Live that she supported Obama over Hillary Clinton, her ratings took a nosedive - Oprah is watched by a very conservative audience. And she didn't really give any specifics points that would comprise an official endorsement. Regardless of who she's voting for, there's no real endorsement, much less any muscle behind the Obama campaign.

I absolutely can't believe the extent of justification that McCain supporters are going to...

I'm anxiously awaiting the results of this election, if for no other reason than just to prove that there are more open-minded people who are willing to vote based on issues, rather than prejudiced people who fear "a black man" in the office, or ignorant enough to believe [without even thinking about debunking] that Obama is a Muslim, is a terrorist, are afraid of his middle name, or any other reason.

To me, one HUGELY important issue is global affairs - Bush has destroyed our once respected standing in the world - now we look like militant bullies, rather than a pillar of reason.
If you look at global poll results, it's unbelievable we even have a close election. The polls are close in this country - around the world, the average is close to NINETY PERCENT favoring Obama, TEN percent favoring McCain!
That alone should throw red flags for McCain supporters...
Personally, I want to join the world again, and earn our respect back. Right now, we are like the red headed bully kid from The Christmas Story, as far as the rest of the world is concerned. It's time to invest in global affairs! Not ignorance. surprised

Attraction, yes...what about beauty within? I mean haven't you ever met someone really beautiful but who basically was a b*tch? Didn't that make her uglier? Same with someone not so beautiful on the outside...wouldn't their awesome personality be something that shined all the way though?

Absolutely - in fact I can be so negative sometimes as to assume that most "really beautiful" ladies are annoyingly high maintenance types... that's more of a turn-off than their beauty is a turn-on, if it's true.

The total balance is what's important, the whole package...

I'd never, ever date a girl based solely on her looks - but her looks might grab my attention and make me curious to find out more. It's how nature works - the very answer to the question "what do you find attractive?" you are naturally tuned into recognizing it.

To be fair with this question, let's say there were two girls who were equally interesting, intelligent, nice, and fun - and I was more attracted to one than the other - I don't think that is shallow. What I'm attracted to is personal to me, and no reason NOT to want that.

The implication that it is wrong is where I think these threads derail from reality... attraction is natural, regardless of whether you are open-minded or not. winking

That's the whole catch...
Attraction is about working with what you got. The host himself has said he's naturally awkward looking.

The cool part about the show is that they show these guys how to be charistmatic, how to create intrigue in others, and the psychology behind communication.

If that guy walked into the room with that goofy look, people would look at him and definitely would say "what's with that guy?" He's different.

This season isn't really as good at last year - they showed the lessons and made more points about that stuff last year.
