Darn, I have no speaker on this computer otherwise I would watch it. Yes, shes a brilliant lady. Her work with the chimps is astounding. Plus she has been instrumental in helping save them from poachers and habitat destruction. Did you know we share something like 98% of our DNA with chimps? They think the divergence took place about 6 mil years ago.

The really neat thing to know about her is that when she went off to her work she was fresh at it. just a girl.
Her curiosity and commitment challenged and changed thinking not just about monkeys but about research, women, society, the relationship between people and animals and more.

What is brilliant about this speech is that she is really discussing our roles as advocates for nature, and for our biosphere.
She is talking alot about how helping people in these third world nations is one of the biggest things you can do to help the animals.
One of her concluding points was to explain how when she went around to the people of these countries that they really didn't give much thought to the chimps, but once they had basic services like running water, education, and the infrastructure to lead decent lives, then they where able to really find an interest and desire to preserve there environments, and felt a real need out of tradition and love of there country to do something.
What it came down to was people are struggling to survive in many parts of Africa, and when there is a cause outside yourself, you cannot focus on that when you are looking for your families next meal, or water, or looking for work.
She really is more then just an animal advocate, she is an environmentalist, a humanist, and a wonderful person.
You really should get some speakers Krisma, I know you would love this speech. Hell I have an extra pair I WILL SEND YOU!

I know it sucks but this computer Im using now a friend gave me for free. So that was nice but no speakers. I was not about to complain. I will go get one this weekend probably.

She's a regular visitor to a place for chimps not far from here. They take in 'retired' chimps from labs, circus's etc.
