I have never had an abortion.

Personally, I think it is probably wrong however I know I am not smart enough or divine to decide what's morally right for another person.

I know several people who have had abortions. One, a now 71 year old woman, had a then illegal but safe procedure in her doctors office. She and her husband had two children who had medical issues that were not immediately evident. She had no regrets and saw it as a distasteful but necessary procedure that would prevent another child from being affected by the disease her husband had unknowingly passed on. They lost both their sons to disease.

Another friend, who is strongly pro-life, has had three abortions. She and her husband had two children as well. In her case I know at least one was done out of convince. She is hateful about the issue. I think it's obvious why.

I think many pro-choice people are like me. We'd like to see fewer abortions performed. Good information and accessible birth control equals fewer pregnancies.

By the way, if men got pregnant too it's my bet that we wouldn't be having this discussion at all.

I gave two reasons why women get abortions. The whole "Daddy raped me and I'm pregnant" crap is given all the time as a reason why abortions must be legal, but that is an incredibly rare circumstance. I will bet you it's more common for a woman to get an abortion because she's concerned about her looks.

Do I seriously think it's more common for a woman to get an abortion because of how it will effect her looks vs a woman getting an abortion because she was raped by her father? YES. So you believe that the number of fathers who rape their daughters outweighs the number of image obsessed women?

Ok, so not comparing it to rape, do you really think many woman are running out to get abortions because of their looks?

My position is that women are more likely to get an abortion to save their looks than they are because they were raped by their fathers. I don't want to run off on any tangents. If you want to argue against my position, please do so.

It is not rare. I have a couple of friends that were raped.
My cousin's daughter was date raped. I have had to deal with two date rape attempts. A woman that my mom worked with was raped and murdered. My friend has a 12 yr. old daughter that the step-dad was with and he is serving 15 yrs.

Don't even tell me that it's crap and that you bet it's more about the woman's looks..

Nope. I don't know any that got abortions because of incest either.

I did read about a woman who left her two babies in the car while she was getting her hair and nails done and they both died from sunstroke. It seems she was a bit more concerned about her looks than her kids.

I just learned a new word.
