Everyone should hold whats dear to them close or one day you'll lose it. I was once on top of the world; what made me there was my treasure. Day by day I would look at it, admire it, and love it. But the thing is that I was blind; my treasure was fragile and as each day passes by it became more. I left it out in the cold darkness and did not take great care of it as I should have and now.. it's gone.. out of my life like a flash of lightning. I would think back to the times i had with my treasure but its too late... I was foolish and uncaring and now it belongs to someone else. Now I am alone.. in the deepest of my life, it is as if I've fallen into the pit of the abyss; my body stays here alone, cold, in despair, rotting, dying...

You people who are in a relationship take this advice from me before its too late to change thing

*i know this may not make sense and all and it not the greatest advice but to me this was something i wish i new from beforefrustrated

Your 18, you'll have many more treasures.
We think you're talking about a "LADY"; not an "it".
Might give a hint why you lost.

My love and my girlfriend is not a treasure.

I don't possses her. She is an integral part of my life and I define myself as half of a whole that she completes. not something that I have to hold and water like a house plant

I think he means he ignored her or took her for granted. I could be wrong, but that's what I got. And, yes, you are right. We don't own our S/O's but the relationship does need attention and nurturing in order not to die.

yeah, I think I was saying the same thing sage was saying, just in a more tortuous roundabout way haha

my point was that he kept refering to love and/or his lady as a thing and like I've said before, Love is a verb not a thing. It's something you do not something you own

Fact is we lose anything and everything one day anyway, personally...I'm not going to reflect on what is lost but learn from that; would have been a matter of time anyway...everything is.

"Big Yellow Taxi"
(feat. Vanessa Carlton)

[Adam Duritz]
They paved paradise and put up a parking lot
With a pink hotel, a boutique, and a swingin' hot spot
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you got 'til it's gone
They paved paradise and put up a parking lot

[Vanessa Carlton]
Ooooh, bop bop bop
Ooooh, bop bop bop

[Adam]
They took all the trees, and put em in a tree museum
And they charged the people a dollar and a half to see them
No, no, no
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you got 'til it's gone
They paved paradise, and put up a parking lot

[Vanessa]
Ooooh, bop bop bop
Ooooh, bop bop bop

[Adam]
Hey farmer, farmer, put away your DDT
I don't care about spots on my apples,
Leave me the birds and the bees
Please
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you got 'til it's gone
They paved paradise and put up a parking lot
Hey now, they paved paradise to put up a parking lot
Why not?

[Vanessa]
Ooooh, bop bop bop
Ooooh, bop bop bop

[Adam]
Listen, late last night, I heard the screen door slam
And a big yellow taxi took my girl away
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you got 'til it's gone
They paved paradise and put up a parking lot
Well, don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you got 'til it's gone
They paved paradise to put up a parking lot
Why not?
They paved paradise and put up a parking lot
Hey hey hey
Paved paradise and put up a parking lot

[Vanessa]
Ooooh, bop bop bop
Ooooh, bop bop bop

[Adam, Vanessa]
I don't wanna give it
Why you wanna give it
Why you wanna giving it all away
Hey, hey, hey
Now you wanna give it
I should wanna give it
Now you wanna giving it all away

I don't wanna give it
Why you wanna give it
Why you wanna giving it all away
Hey, hey, hey
Now you wanna give it
I should wanna give it
Cos you giving it all away
Hey, hey, givin it all,
givin it all....away

[Vanessa]
Why do you want me?
why do you want me?

[Adam]
Cos' you're givin it all away,
Hey, paved paradise to put up a parking lot

You never really appreciate or treasure what you have enough until it's gone. Then it's either too late or you find the moxie to pull yourself up by your bootstraps and pursue that which means the most to you. Whether or not the window of opportunity for that "treasure" opens up for you once again, you're still all the more wiser for the next go round. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Try a different approach.
