In my last post someone inferred that Mc Cain would be a better president cause he is more like a regular joe.

My question is, when did we as americans decide that we would settle for regular, ordinary, average or common people to lead us? Do we really want that in a time of crisis? Is regular joe code for something else? Where our founding fathers regular joes?

I just think it's funny how McCain, who's the son of an army admiral and married into being millionaire, is the regular joe, whereas Obama, who was raised by a single mom and grandparents who at one point had to be on food stamps, went to school with scholarships and loans, and is a self made millionaire is less of a regular joe.

Anyway, there's nothing wrong with wanting to identify your candidate, but I agree that there's a huge problem with anti-intellectualism. I want a smart president, sorry. I mean, I don't want my president to be an elitist, but I do want him to be elite.

When is it that we are going to stop with the high school litmus test as far as President goes and start voting for those who are actually going to be the best at the job?

I am surprised that the Mc Cain lovers haven't argued this point.

McCain and Obama are both intelligent and capable.
McCain has however demonstrated a great deal more
capability over the years as a leader, statesman,
legislator and independent.

Obama maybe great or maybe a disaster. If he gets
elected let's hope it isn't another disaster like
the other recent inexperienced presidents we have
elected, namely George W. Bush and Jimmy Carter.

ill

Unfortunately McCain has sold out during this
campaign to the far right wing of his party instead
of reaching out to the independents. Likewise, Obama
has cow-towed to the far left elements in his party
too and he managed to select the one running mate whose
gaffes can be actually compared with Palin's. So yeah,
we are pretty much stuck either way. (bows head)
Let us pray.

laugh whoa

I don't care how experienced you are if you keep making the same mistakes and trying to maintain the status quo. I also believe that he has something to prove in terms of having America come out as the "Victor". That is the scariest thing about him to me. War is a last resort and not something to cling to to prove a point.

i thought you said you did not know what i said

if you want differnt output (differnt reaction)

then change the input (quit making same mistakes[choices])

There is a need to allow different opinions & not argue in the threads.

one of the scariest things about Obama is that he does
not seem to appreciate how important it is to help
moderates prevail in the middle east.

in battle, victory is ummmm "preferable" for a variety
of reasons.

laugh

well - we shall see.

all respectfully though! i do hope that whoever gets
elected in fact does recognize the need for moderation.
the urgent need to represent all americans and the
real importance of walking the walk while reaching
across the aisle.
