I don't drive because of an equilibrium issue. When my balance is more normal I will drive just don't want to unnecessarily endanger others. I have driven since the accident and it doesn't really bother me but scares the heck out of my passengers. I was driving late out of state and fell asleep. I struck a telephone pole from the driver's side of my car and it knocked me out, I woke up later in shock trauma. My car was totaled and I received a closed head injury. I had my jaw wired shut, was in a wheelchair for about a year. If I didn't tell you all of this you would never know how bad the accident was. Today I think I am superman. I still don't drive not because I'm afraid of doing it, I am lucky enough to know my limits and don't feel that my concentration is quite good enough yet and I want to be on top of my game mentally, so I don't endanger others. I am fine today except some neurological damage to my right side operating with some limited mobility and my right eye isn't tracking yet, but as far as the eye goes it is still improving. It was swelled shut but now it's wide open, just not tracking.
I grew up in Fairmont, West Virginia. After graduating high school I joined the Air Force.
I have lived in Maryland since 1993. I was a powered support systems mechanic, they used my equipment to provide electricity to the airplane for performing maintenance on the plane without starting it. I have had two other jobs in the Air Force I used to paint airplanes and do sheetmetal repairs. I joined active duty Air Force in 1988 and got out in 1993. I got out to join the Air National Guard as a full time employee which I did up until they retired me three years ago because of my accident. It was a good deal they definitely take care of their own, now they pay me to watch T.V., go figure.
I'm looking for an honest, faithful woman, with a good sense of humor. I think things are what they are and have no trouble dealing with what has been put on my plate. I don't do much outside except take short walks. I don't do much after the accident I was in. I'm not on any medication and not in physical therapy anymore but I do walk just a little slower than I use to. I'm a little unbalanced when I walk sometimes but It beets a wheelchair.
