I just finished my first year of grad school and study German literature and linguistics. English is my first language, but I speak German fluently (formal German and a smattering of Berliner and Pfaelzisch) and get along okay in French, but always want to learn more and improve my current skills! In my free time, I enjoy "the usuals" - hanging out with friends, meeting downtown for a beer or a concert, watching movies, reading, traveling when I've got the money.

If I had to pick five CDs to listen to forever, I'd choose the Beatles' Revolver, Sarah McLachlan's Fumbling Towards Ecstasy, the Smashing Pumpkins' Rotten Apples, Jump Little Children's Between the Dim and the Dark, and Wolfsheim's Spectators.

My favorite movie is Doris Doerrie's Keiner liebt mich, but more recently I've really enjoyed Grind House and Stranger Than Fiction, although I typically don't find Will Ferrell funny - I'm more of a Britcom kind of girl.

My favorite city in the world is Berlin - I could never get sick of it. I also particularly love Dresden and Weimar in Germany and Ville de Luxembourg, Luxembourg. England feels comfortable to me, too. In the U.S., kitschy roadside destinations like Weeki Wachee Springs rock my world.
