I'm just a geeky guy trying to come to grip that I will never be a director, paleontologist, but I could still be a mediocre scribe! I'm a self despising couch potato, and would love to find some new friends to get me out and about more. I often find myself day dreaming back to roaming the streets of Toronto at 1AM and wondering why Downtown Houston is such a drag. I'm also experiencing that weird "Holy **** I'm all grown up now! What the hell do I do now?" that I think everyone goes through at some point. It's a damn scary feeling, but exciting as well. Of course, I'm a Toys R Us kid, I'll never grow up completely. And if you've ever read the Scott Pilgrim series my life is kind of like that.
At this point in life though I just really want to meet some cool people. I'd love to meet a girl that I get all gooey and stupid over, but hey, it's tough enough meeting good friends.
What I'm doing with my life
My life in Houston is very simple, and I kind of hate it. I don't like simple, almost as much as I don't like complicated. Just give me a bit of excitement, or just out of the house a few days a week. I work office hours, and spend my free time playing video games, shooting pool, reading, and on occasion making my way to the art museum. I hate to see myself as a couch potato, but Houston doesn't feel like 'home' to me these days. That's another story for another time. I'd love to find someone to help get me out of the house more, and re-discover this city of mine.
I've been meeting some cool people lately, and getting to enjoy more of the city bit by bit. So I'm not quite the self despising couch potato I described above these days. I'm still not as happy as I was in my time in Toronto, but I'm getting there.
I'm really good at
My job. Writing (maybe). Sleep. Making sweet tea. Talking about why Simon Pegg could turn me gay. Quoting Simpsons. Singing Faith No More to myself at random moments through the day. Stealing my room mate's CDs. Pouring a Bushmills on the rocks. Movie trivia. Mumbling lyrics I don't know.
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me
My awesome glasses. That I curse like a sailor. My sense of humor knows almost no boundaries. I love a good conversation. I am very Irish. I have a thing for zombies. I had a World of Warcraft addiction, but I'm in recovery! That I quote movies far too often. I'm pretty timid when first meeting someone, but once a few inappropriate jokes are made I open right up. That is unless I'm interested, then I get worried I'll say/do the wrong thing. Did I mention I'm a bit neurotic and an over-thinker?
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Far from conclusive lists. All of these subjects can be discussed at length with me.
Authors: Neil Gaiman, Alan Moore, Irvine Welsh And yes I read Chuck Palahniuk, but as I've gotten older the books have lost their impact for the most part. Books: The Watchmen, American Gods, Glue, Survivor, Neverwhere, World War Z, Zombie Survival Guide
Current Reading: I tried Blood Meridian, but it just didn't do it for me. Working on Neverwhere again.
Music: Faith No More, Led Zeppelin, Megadeth, Nine Inch Nails, ZZ Top, SRV, Soundgarden, Nirvana, White Zombie, Black Label Society, Jimi Hendrix, Tragically Hip, Better Than Ezra, Stone Temple Pilots and on and on. I have a pretty distinct taste, but it is varied, and I'm interested in finding new music. I'm kind of stuck in the 60's and 90's for the most part. I think in the last decade maybe 3 bands have caught my attention; Gorillaz, Gnarls Barkely, and Dragonforce. If you have bands to recommend, go for it, I'll give anything one listen.
Movies: This is a long and storied subject. Let's talk about this together. To start the conversation, I'm quickly closing in on 500 DVD's, and I'm disappointed in how small my collection is, and that it doesn't completely represent my love of film. Here's a link to my list as of this evening in March.

The six things I could never do without
This question can make anyone seem pretentious or lame with honest answers. So what would I rather not do without?
1. iPhone
2. Laptop
3. Desire
4. Bubble Tea
5. Common Sense
6. Film
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Is it time to leave the office yet? Is there a new art exhibit in town? Seriously, why do people try to talk politics in the office? How can I transplant myself to Toronto? Sex. (Give me a break, I'm a guy!) How long until I get to go to Europe? Why the hell does dating have to suck so bad? Why is "****" such a versatile word? Are UFO's just time machines? What would I do if Robert Plant walked into my room with a sand shark?
On a typical Friday night I am
Either shooting pool with a couple friends, or at home watching a movie or writing. Like I said, I need help re-discovering Houston. I like basketball, football, baseball, and hockey (in that order) so I try to go to a few games every year of each. Especially the Rockets and Aeros. Maybe at Cecil's having a drink.
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here
I don't know that I have a lot of things I keep private. I don't hold back when I talk to people. I'd rather a prospective friend/mate see what they're getting with me from the start.
So you should know, I'm hopelessly addicted to HGTV. House Hunters is my ****. I cannot dance, at all. I lack any sense of rhythm. I can't whistle. Lettuce freaks me out.
You should message me if
You have no issue staying up Friday night until 2AM just talking about life, the universe, and everything. If you want a guy that will teach you why Rashomon is an amazing movie in exchange for cooking lessons. If you want a guy that only watches one football game a week, and won't let a loss ruin his life. If you want someone to grow with, and help each other learn new things about ourselves, and life. If you're interested in Toronto, because I'm an encyclopedia for the city. You think Hank Scorpio is the best Simpsons character in history. You want a Rock Band partner. You've logged hours into Katamari Damacy. If you want Ken Foree to be your neighborhood cop. If you have seen a zombie fight a shark. You know what a Shadow Priest is. You'd like to go indoor rock climbing. You have an all Rush mix tape and a bottle of Shasta. Send me a message!
