**Addendum-was accused by someone (who admitted that he may not know anything and I agree) that my profile wasn't good because it doesn't show what I look like NOW, say anything what I'm looking for etc.-it actually does because even though the pic IS outdated (ridiculous he says but yes but that's my whole point about them!) the description is apt-but most importantly it shows you need to have a sense of whimsy and mischief so if you have neither-since it IS long-you should go no further. Also I don't list what I'm looking for in a man, because I don't think you can pick what you want in a person like off a Chinese menu (pun intended) and if the person doesn't have the traits I want, and I like him then I'll have to accept him for what he is (in our age range we should know you can't change a person. if your interest is piqued then read on......

I’ve decided to capitulate, well somewhat at least, with my rebellion against this obsession with pics on here but holding true to my philosophy that life still should have SOME mystery and intrigue AND I believe that life should be full of pleasant surprises which it STILL would be-one person says he thinks I look better now-LOL!!! This IS a picture of me (and one can’t say that I’m not upfront!) albeit taken 30 years ago (I mean if you’re doing a search by age-even though I’m Asian, be realistic although we age REALLY well, we don’t age THAT well !) and (sigh) it'll be a way for me to screen if it's just a Pavlovian reflex or if someone is actually READING the profile.

Again, I’m not ugly or have anything to hide but don't have recent ones (which since it's still hard for some to understand (sigh) what that means I CAN'T send you one if you ask!!) and basically look pretty much the same, except for few crinkles around the eyes, strands of gray hair in a short, shag style hairdo and having lost weight both face and body shape about the same, but ahh, those eyes, nose and oh those lips (which please not to be kissed until we know each better) are basically the same so if you find me attractive then, you’ll probably find me attractive NOW. It was either that pic or the ones I was thinking of posting which was of a friend who in her sixties is still a professional model (and thought to be in her thirties although one guy at her Ballys thought she was 19!) next to a pic of one of the homeliest woman I know, saying in my headline, which door is it, the lady or tiger (dog!)? (One thing I’m glad that will never change, is my sense of humor so if you can’t appreciate it, I guess we’ll NEVER be a match!) In return I’ll need to see a pic (doesn’t have to be posted online) but sent before we meet HOWEVER if you have a 30 year old pic, I’ll look at it and you can tell me how YOU changed (I guess if it‘s in your early forties, it‘ll be a lot!!):jump:

Well at least now-I can contact people if only to remark on an opinion that they gave in the forum-without being blocked.

And now to the meat of the profile:

I would like someone who lives near by me in the area, the south bay of L.A. County (meaning the beach cities from El Segundo to Long Beach and as far east as Gardena or Carson) so we can meet in person without traveling far (and we wouldn't both have to run up our phone bills but Canadians are free to contact me as I'm partial to them) and hopefully would like a romantic possibility so would like them to be of non-African descent and from 43-55 but I didn't restrict my settings to that because if you'd just like to write complimenting or criticizing what I say in a forum or if you're a male a little out of my age range, I may just choose to meet you.

I am Chinese American, born here, and am financially independent though not rich so I am able to like (or love) a man for himself and not what he can give me. I have a great sense of humor (which means I laugh at your jokes-just a joke) as I'm not servile, but if I do fall in love (or great deal of like!) I'm a loving, caring person!

I'm a liberal and have a very casual, beachy lifestyle and dress, but if Mary Matalin and James Carville can make it, I guess that wouldn't stop us, if we're compatible in different ways.

Although there must be a mutual physical attraction (and I've found out alas-if we don't have it, it probably WON'T grow,) HOWEVER it may still be as Claude Rains said, "the beginning of a beautiful friendship" where we could either become platonic friends, and/or may know someone more suited to each other. I never feel that even if I'm not attracted to a person physically, that the time that I spend with him, is time that I'll never get back in my life, as I may enjoy his other aspects!!:laugh:

And although I am searching for a LTR, (I put reading as one of my first loves and I see couples sitting together at the coffeehouse reading the paper and I think how nice it is so feel so comfortable to be with someone that you can just do that,) I'm not averse to meeting an activity partner or someone to hang with (see first date below.)

Well, although I like to STILL do free things, like going to festivals, and special events and willing to do that on a first date and subsequent ones there are those that are STILL afraid to spend anything more than 15 minutes (the length of time that Andy Warhol said we would be famous once in our lives) with a person that they may not like (and most people DO like my personality!!) despite liking my looks (the main reason men will contact you), in lieu of tea at say a Starbucks, we’ll meet at the Malibu Fish Grill in Redondo Beach where you can treat me to a fish taco which is cheaper than a drink at the aforementioned location. I would however, if we ARE a match and the relationship turns serious, occasionally be taken to a nice restaurant, movie, etc.   Send me a message!
