About Me

Before people looked for each other online (and it wasn't all that long ago) I saw that in a newspaper in Nebraska. I remember it because the first thing I thought when I happened across it was how popular that guy would be among most of the women whose profiles I've read. WHile there was no mention was made of his other traits - appearance, personality, etc. - one thing is certain; Diogenes, you can put away that lantern; here's your honest man.

I've always had this theory that alot the people we label as dishonest are actually better described as confused; alot of them don't know what they're looking for in (or from) someone else, and if THEY don't know it seems obvious they're going find it impossible to tell YOU. I've often thought what these people were really saying they wanted was someone who was AWARE of what they wanted; and was both willing and able to express just what that was. Maybe it's different for women; I can only speak from the male point of view, but of the handful of serious relationships in my life, including my marriage, the biggest lie I ever told was along the lines of "what a silly question; you ALWAYS look great" :-) and could count on one hand the number of times I've been lied to, but as for knowing what I wanted, or choosing women who knew what they wanted - the fact that I'm filling out one of these things pretty much says it all :-).

Maybe it's time to try the same approach the guy with the tractor used - be honest with myself (self-awareness), and forthcoming (I think this is what women mean when they talk about expressing emotions – blech :-) with "you". As my oldest and dearest friend loves to say, "sounds easy if you say it fast” :-).

Here's a small sample; if any of it catches your eye get in touch and I'll fill you in on the rest. One thing I'm not is shy, and while “I” may not be my absolute favorite topic of conversation, it's hardly my most dreaded :-).

(Drumroll please . . .)

I'm 41, divorced, with no kids; I think kids are great I just don't happen to have any.

As far as you situation in this regard, I've been with women who had them and women who didn't; either is OK by me.

Have none, but want some ? Have some and want more ? Have none and want none, or have some and don't want more ? All of the these are fine by me. I can't imagine myself with anyone who didn't think kids were great; this doesn't mean they have to be your own.

Let's see, what else.

A sense of humor is an absolute must, and that includes being able to laugh at yourself.

If I write you I've most likely already seen your picture and must have liked what I saw; if you respond I assume the same is true. If you're not smiling in at least one of your photos I probably skipped right past your profile (sorry; it's just a reflex). Other than the only thing about your appearance I did notice was that you look as if you tried. I'm not talking about three hours in front of the mirror (eek) but c'mon – if you don't care how you look in a photo thousands of people are going to see what exactly do you consider important ?

I don't much care about age; George Bernard Shaw was right when he said, “it's sad that youth is so often wasted on the young”.

This seems like a good place to stop; if I told you everything about me or what I wanted now, what would we have to talk about later ? :-)   Send me a message!
