I am a recent college graduate. I majored in photojournalism, and I am also a certified teacher of English as a foreign language. I love movies and soundtracks, and I love to travel, particularly to Switzerland and Québec.

I'm a big fan of good ol' fashioned *adventure*. I was a tall ship sailor for a number of years, and at one point sailed in a transatlantic race. Not satisfied with conquering the seas, I looked to the skies. My dad is an IFR rated pilot, with his own plane, a Grumman Tiger. I am working on acquiring my own pilot's license, and have logged a number of hours while flying with my dad. Two summers ago we made a transcontinental flight over the course of two weeks from Houston, TX, to Fort Yukon, Alaska, inside the Arctic Circle and back.

I am also very fond of reenacting, particularly the French and Indian War era and WWII. I rarely feel more 'at home' than at a reenactment. If ever an argument could be made about reincarnation, in a heartbeat I'd give this as my evidence. If it isn't already obvious, I'm a big history geek. While I've never formally studied it, I'm rather well read in a number of areas.

I absolutely love to travel, and I am a cultural sponge, in many ways. I tend to very quickly and easily soak up the customs and traditions of wherever I am. I pride myself on the fact that, at least when in the US, people always think I'm from wherever I am. In other countries, I often get remarks along the lines of "Wow, your English is very good. Did you study in America?" due to both this and my similar and unintentional absorption of accents. I don't particularly mind the US, but I also don't particularly care for it either, and so I'm currently doing research on how to move to another country somewhere down the line, preferably Switzerland or Belgium.

While I do enjoy the company of friends, I also equally enjoy time alone with myself. I am a big fan of multi-hour walks through the countryside, typically with my camera working on my photography. I also spend tremendous amounts of time acquiring random knowledge via wikipedia, watching British television on my computer, puttering about on livejournal (where my username is 'driftingfocus'), and looking at historical props and clothing.

While I'm not hugely outgoing, I tend to have a rather positive outlook on life. I feel like a pessimistic life is somewhat of a wasted life, just like an unhappy one.
