About Me

Hi, I'm new here, so thanks for stopping by!

My family would describe me as a thoughtful, caring, quick-witted, intelligent, and a down to earth person. I'm also very independent, but keep strong ties with my family and friends. I'm financially stable, driven and love what I do. My friends would say a good laugh and an infectious smile are never far away when you are around me.

I have my undergrad in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota. Though I don't think of myself or work as a typical “engineer”. My current position is in strategic operations as a Global Program Manager where I develop processes and tools to enable the company function globally as a unit instead of being broken down in divisive functional silos. I decided to get a Mechanical Engineering degree because I knew a solid technical background would help me reach my career goals in business. I believe education is very important and you should learn something new every day.

I’ve been fortunate to be able to travel quite often for work and pleasure. I enjoy active vacations. In 2004 alone, I was fortunate enough to have been to Galway, Ireland, Prague, Czech Republic, Barcelona, Spain, Odense, Denmark (you know the birth place of Hans Christian Andersen…the ugly duckling…etc.), Hong Kong and Shenzhen, China. Just this past September I was in Madrid, Barcelona and Pamplona, Spain. This January I spent about a month in India and I can personally tell you the Taj Mahal is amazing!

I like going to a new place unscripted with just a loose framework. I find I meet the most interesting people and see the most memorable sights that way. I find I learn a lot about myself when I interact with new people and new surroundings. I would love to travel through Eastern Europe. I'm not sure if it's the history I'm drawn to, but when I was in Prague I had my friend (and colleague) take me around to many of the historical areas of Prague…which sometime sure, coincide with the touristy things, but I had 2 weekends to spend there... it is an amazing city and the people are outstanding. I would love to travel to the Poland, the Baltic States and Russia...I've even made many contacts in the region for tour guides..now I just need to find the time. I would say the thing that sticks out most in my mind of the places I’ve been and people I’ve met is the human element. When in a foreign country you learn quickly and respect their culture….but the more you find different and maybe even a little strange you realize that we all have superficial differences, but when building relationships they all are built on the same basic building blocks…the human elements that make us who we are...where we all find common ground. Did I mention I can be a bit analytical? :)

I enjoy watching and playing sports…softball. Lately, I have been roller-blading, running, playing hockey and tennis.

Last year I bought a condo downtown with a great view the Mississippi river and the Minneapolis skyline.

I’m a big fan of music and enjoy going out with friends to go see a show!

You are someone who enjoys the simple things in life and takes the time to show others. Your family is first in your book. Some qualities I admire most in you are your kindness, generosity, wit, beauty, playfulness, forgiveness (hopefully we won't need that one too often:) passion, understanding, graciousness, adoration, intelligence and above all else your honesty. So if you like what you see come find me in My Space. "This above all: to thine own self be true" -WS   Send me a message!
