About Me

It's evening. It was a typical day at work, the commute was the usual stop and go situation, you're a little tired and you just want to get home and relax, have a nice meal, maybe enjoy a glass of wine. Perhaps watch a little Tivo or a movie, maybe read a book. What could be better?

You're hungry. You rummage around the kitchen putting together the ingredients to fix a tasty meal. You prepare the food to please not only your taste buds but also your eyes as well as your nose. What could be better?

The water is just right. Hot, but not too hot. Bubbles float in a thick layer enveloping you, soothing your skin. The lights are dim and the candle flames throw dancing shadows on the walls as they flicker and release their scent while soft jazz plays in the background. Your head is lying back on a soft terry pillow. The wine smooth and mellow, nudges your world just a touch off center. What could be better?

It's Saturday morning. The work week is over. You can stay in bed a little later than normal. The sheets feel just right with that certain coolness that you only feel when the morning comes. Outside your window a few birds are greeting the day as the sun begins to fill the sky. You have no appointments, no plans; the day is yours to do with as you please. What could be better?

The breeze carries with it the scent of the water and the fragrance of the pines. The waves lap at the shore constantly recreating the landscape. While gulls fly aloft, searching for dinner. You're sitting on a blanket you've spread on the ground feeling the breeze, listening to nature. What could be better?

The engines fill the cabin with a droning din that masks the brighter sounds. The seat is cramped as usual and the legroom, well, what legroom? The person sitting next to you is wearing enough cologne for the entire row. The meal was a dried out piece of meat covered in a sauce they said was mushroom gravy but you'd swear it was made from the remnants of an ashtray. A few rows away a baby cries from the pain the pressure has put on his ears as his mother tries everything she knows to comfort him. Somewhere someone’s perpetual cough has you a little worried. Only a couple more hours and you'll arrive at your destination ready to enjoy the excitement of a new place. What could be better?

To share these moments with that special someone, that’s what could be better.

Let's face it. We're all interesting; we all have friends and family who will proffer great opinions of us (as they should lol). We all strive to be decent people. We all love to laugh. We're all responsible people. We all enjoy living and seeing what this world has to offer.

And yet, we're all missing something.

I could write an essay on all the things I like and want and about what makes me tick. I could also write another on all the things I want in/from a woman. But I'll just say I'm an average guy with all the usual wants, likes and desires. Well, maybe one or two things fall outside "usual". I'm divorced after thirteen years of marriage. I have varied tastes and interests. I avidly poke around life with curiosity and humor. Honesty and laughing are very important. I try to keep an open mind. I believe in chivalry and treating women with respect.

Physically speaking, I'm not perfect so I certainly don't expect you to be. Wouldn't that be boring? I'm not going to grace the cover of GQ (unless they're poking fun at themselves), however I don't feel I qualify as a candidate for Troglodyte Weekly either. As for my body type, think Teddy Bear. What I find attractive generally doesn’t fit in with what you see parading down the runways. I prefer a woman with some curves. Not a shapeless stick. She’s a real woman.

At this age we all have history, I’ve got mine. If you don't have yours, well, you've not been living. Of course, with history comes baggage. All I ask is that it's neatly wrapped and placed on a shelf in the closet where it belongs.

The outdoors is great, love it, enjoy being out in it. However, we spend a fair amount of time indoors so I appreciate a woman who is more feminine than tomboy. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate a woman who can enjoy the outdoors in the morning and then dress to the nines in the evening (grrr). She's just as comfortable in silks as she is in denim. Confidence and femininity are high on my list of attractions as well as being young at heart.
