Hello, all!
This is all new to me since I have been married for the last 10 years and have been a homebody during that time (not to mention, not looking for anyone else).
That said, I guess we can get the physical appearances out of the way. I suppose you can look at the images, but I have found a virtual dearth of them, since I have been the main “camera man” for the last 10 years and can not find much of anything other than the blown up and/or out-of-focus self-portraits you see here). I’m 5’11”, weigh about 200 pound (fluctuates, especially around the holidays). In reasonably good shape (maintaining the property helps keep me that way, but I do have some back issues from the military; hence, no rigorous sports activities.) The thinning hair is dark brown; eyes are hazel.
The marriage lasted 10 years; the break-up is amicable, and we are still friends. (In fact, she probably would be willing to talk to you about me in a very positive manner.) We are separated, since there are estate and tax issues with getting divorced. That said, it would not be a problem if I (or she) were to find someone new. This is all relatively new, so we are sorting it out.
I was in the military for a long time: active duty, reserves and national guard. Consequently, I probably say things the average civilian does not understand occasionally. ;-) While on active duty, I served in Germany for nearly 10 years. I loved it there, although my last visit was in 1996. Ich kann Deutsch!
I currently am a business partner in a publishing company that specializes in WW2 books. I edit, do layout and translate, as well as manage the web. I have been doing that for nearly 10 years. It is work I really enjoy, perhaps too much. Some would say I am a workaholic (but that is how I have been all my life). Due to my profession, I can live anywhere, where there's a (high-speed) Internet connection.
Politically, I am fairly conservative. I enjoy following national politics and issues, but I have difficulty in relating to people who are liberals if the subject of politics comes up. I mention this primarily because I would have difficulty in developing a relationship with someone whose political/social views were seriously in conflict with mine.
I enjoy reading, music (recorded and live) of all types (except jazz and opera), traveling, movies (most types, except mindless action flicks), collecting militaria (have a substantial WW2 collection). Favorite movies: Saving Private Ryan; Blackhawk Down; We Were Soldiers Once; 12 O'Clock High; Steiner-Das Eiserne Kreuz (the first one that Peckinpah directed); and...you get the picture. Music: Pretty eclectic. I like Marshall Crenshaw, Bruce Springsteen, the Clash (go figure...). I also like a number of German artists: Die Aerzte, Ina Deter, Wolf Maahn. Love pets: We have more than we really should — dogs, cats, horses and chickens (yes, they’re more pets than anything else). I would not be adverse to children (either existing or in the future), but I am probably getting to be too old to be much of a “soccer dad”.
I value honesty, integrity, loyalty, civility, intelligence, creativity, patriotism, love of country. I should also mention that I hope to find someone who is very passionate with the one she loves, since I have a relatively high drive in that area.
Willing to relocate...
That, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, sums up the argument. I await your verdict… Send me a message!
